Designing for Trust: Lessons from HealthTech

Health products carry an unusual design burden. Every visual decision either builds or erodes the trust people need to take action.

The weight of the first impression

Health products occupy an unusual space in design. They are often used in moments of vulnerability — when someone is anxious, unwell, or trying to make a decision that feels consequential. This changes every design calculation. What might read as minimal and modern in a fintech context can feel cold and alienating in health. The emotional calibration has to be different.

Designing for the uncertain user

Trust in health design comes from predictability, clarity, and the consistent feeling that someone thought carefully about your experience. Small things matter disproportionately: the softness of a form field, the way confirmation copy is written, the pace of an onboarding screen. These details don’t announce themselves — but their absence is always felt.
